How to Make Carrot Cake Bars

The process is straightforward and well suited to bakers of all skill levels. Below is an overview of each major step; full measurements and detailed instructions are included in the recipe section further down.

  1. Prepare the batter. Whisk together the wet ingredients, then add the dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Fold in the grated carrots gently so they stay evenly distributed.
  2. Bake the bars. Pour the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish and smooth the top. Bake about 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Move the pan to a wire rack and cool to room temperature.
  3. Make the frosting. While the bars cool, beat the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth and spreadable.
  4. Frost and serve. Once the bars are completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. Slice into squares and enjoy.
