Chicken Parmesan and Pasta Casserole Bake for Family Meals

A quick and easy family dinner recipe!

Looking for easy meals for a family with kids? This baked Chicken Parmesan pasta casserole is fast, budget-friendly and made with just a few pantry staples: rotisserie chicken, pasta, marinara, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, butter and panko breadcrumbs. It’s kid-friendly and satisfying for adults, too.

I like to serve this casserole with a Caesar salad and breadsticks for a complete meal, but roasted or steamed vegetables also pair nicely.

Easy Baked Chicken Parmesan Casserole With Pasta

  • 1 small rotisserie chicken, pulled and shredded
  • 1/2 pound pasta, cooked (any shape)
  • 24 oz jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning and 1/2 tsp garlic powder (adjust to taste)

Cook pasta according to package directions, drain, and return to the pot. Stir in marinara, shredded chicken, half the mozzarella and half the parmesan, plus Italian seasoning. Heat briefly over medium-low until warmed through and well combined.

Spread the pasta mixture evenly into a greased 7×9-inch (or similar) baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and parmesan over the top.

In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, melted butter and garlic powder. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole.

Bake uncovered in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes, or until the panko topping is golden brown and crisp. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Serve this Italian-inspired casserole on its own or with a simple salad, steamed vegetables and/or breadsticks. It’s an ideal busy-weeknight main, and leftovers reheat well for another meal.
